Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior; and on profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit; we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ, promising in humble reliance upon Divine help, to walk together in christian love, to watch for one another's welfare, to remember one another in prayer, to comfort one another in sickness or distress, to be ever slow to take offense, ready to forgive and eager for reconciliation.
We also promise to labour and pray for temporal and spiritual prosperity of this church; to attend regularly its services; to sustain its doctrines, ordinances and discipline; to contribute freely of our means for the payment of its expenses, for the relief of the poor and for the spread of the gospel at home and abroad.
We also engage to maintain the habit of daily devotion and to make earnest efforts for the salvation of our kindred and acquaintenances, to be honest in our dealings, truthful in our statements, faithful in our engagements, temperate in our habits and circumspect in our deportment; “thus striving to live soberly, righteously and godly in the present world."
